Your application
1. After successful application, you will be asked to pay a deposit of $150USD or 1200 RMB.
2. The balance of the course fee must be paid in cash either in RMB or USD (or equivalent EURO, GBP) upon arrival at the course. Traveler's cheques are also accepted. Please contact ALC (Aston Language Centre) in advance if you wish to make alternative payment arrangements.
3. As part of our pre-screening process, applicants are requested to submit an account of their personal history and background and their motives for joining the course, as well as their future aspirations.
4. We do not accept responsibility for the provision of any services that are not expressly mentioned in the Website.
5. All courses are offered subject to demand.
6. Where insufficient bookings lead us to cancel any course mentioned in the Website, we will make every effort to offer you an alternative course.
7. If we are unable to accept your application for enrolment, we will offer you an alternative course or course start date. If these are not acceptable to you, we will refund all fees paid.
8. We reserve the right not to accept any application. In the event that your application is refused, all monies received will be refunded in full.
9. Once your application has been received and the enrolment confirmed a binding contract exists between you and ALC.
10. You must pay any bank charges incurred in making the payment to the school.
11. Any changes which result in an additional charge, must be paid for before the change is implemented.

Visas
12. If you come from a country whose nationals are required to be in possession of a visa to enter China, it is your responsibility to obtain that visa. On receipt of your application deposit, we will confirm receipt of the application and a place on the course will be kept open for you.
13. On request, we will send you a letter confirming that your application has been received. This confirmation can be used to support an application for a visa.
14. If your application for a visa is unsuccessful, we will refund all monies paid, on receipt of a copy of the letter of refusal from the Chinese Consulate or Visa Section of a Chinese Embassy.

Your course
15. If you are dissatisfied with a course, or any aspect of the services offered by ALC, you must bring that dissatisfaction to the attention of the Principal, Director of Studies or Course Director as soon as possible in order that a solution be found without delay. Once a complaint has been brought to our attention, we will make every effort to resolve the problem within 24 hours.
16. We will not accept a complaint after the end of the relevant course, if it has not been brought to our attention as explained (in 15) above.
17. We expect all our students to be well motivated, polite and considerate towards others, especially their hosts, and to observe such rules as are at the time in force.
18. We reserve the right to ask any student who does not comply with the above (17) to leave the course. In this case, no refund of fees will be made, and any extra costs involved will be the responsibility of the student.
19. We do not accept liability for the loss of, or damage to, any person's property while on the School's premises. We do not accept liability for any loss or damage in which our students are involved.
20. For the holiday break, students may take a break from their studies. Tuition and accommodation fees will not be charged during this period. Subject to your accommodation agreement, you may return to, and leave your belongings at your accommodation. In this case, a fee will be charged.

Cancellation of your application
21. In the event of a student wishing to cancel their application, they must do so in writing and are responsible for paying a cancellation fee of $50USD, on the condition that the letter is received more than two weeks before the start of the course.
22. In the event of a student canceling their application in writing less than two weeks before the course commencement date, they will be responsible for the payment of a $150USD cancellation fee.
23. If we do not receive your cancellation in writing, or do so after the course in which you are enrolled has started, your cancellation will be treated as "termination" of the course. The condition pertaining to termination is given in section 24.

Termination of your course
24. No refund will be made after course has started.

Refunds
25. Refunds will be made only to the person or organization (such as your company) from whom we received the fees. Refunds can only be made to you directly if you originally paid the fees yourself, or with the authorization of the person or organization that did so.
26. Refunds will not be given for any part of the program (such as an excursion) missed because of your arrival, departure or other arrangements.
27. All refunds will be made in RMB (USD or Pound Sterling may be possible). Any bank or other charges payable will be deducted from the money refunded to you.
28. By signing the application form, you authorize ALC to take appropriate action in the case of a medical emergency and acknowledge that you or your company are responsible for paying all costs incurred. You also grant permission to any medical practitioner to examine you, treat you and to make referrals as required.
29. Signing the application form implies your understanding and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, and of the information contained in the current Website, the "Course Dates and Fees" and the application form.
